Twenty-year Washington Post veteran Kevin Merida has been elevated to Managing Editor, the mediabistro.com Fishbowl DC blog reported this week.

Merida, a Washington, D.C., native who has been serving as WaPo's National Editor, will oversee the Universal News Desk along with the daily's news and features coverage. Like the intrepid staff of "TUOL," Merida earned a journalism degree from Boston University's College of Communication.

Last month, former Boston Globe editor Marty Baron officially became Executive Editor of the Washington Post (see "TUOL" post 11/14/12).
