Beck's Bier

Glenn BeckImage via Wikipedia
TheBlaze(http://www.theblaze.com), the ubiquitous Glenn Beck's conservative news and opinion Web site, debuted Monday, one day after Beck's Restoring Honor rally White-out enshrouded Washington, D.C.

The Web site will be edited by former Breitbart TV co-founder Scott Baker.  Andrew Breitbart, of course, is the fellow behind the Shirley Sherrod and ACORN video scandal hoopla, so one would assume that Baker is skilled at overseeing the editing of  long videotapes into short incendiary video clips. Baker was an anchor for WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh for 13 years.

"Nothing Burns Hotter than the Truth" is the tagline for Beck's tangled Web entree. Beck said the flame image symbolizes a "burning truth" that is not consumed. It also can represent a destructive conflagration, but "TUOL" digresses.

Mediaite was the first site to report on Beck's latest project.  Today's home page of TheBlaze, besides Associated Press wire copy, includes stories headlined: HOAS Tread on Patriotic Symbols, NY Residents Don't Support Mosque at Ground Zero, Explicit Poetry GPS Phones Help Illegals and Ground Zero Imam: I've 'Always Been' a Jew and a Christian.

"TUOL" concedes that the Web site does represent a  technological advance over the blackboard, heretofore, Beck's preferred weapon of destruction.

Caramba! Fox News Latino Coming This Fall

Image representing Rupert Murdoch as depicted ...Image via CrunchBase
Reuters reports that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. this fall will launch www.FoxLatino.com, that will generate original news and features of interest to one of the nation's fastest growing segments of the population.

Some of the content on the Website also will be featured  on  The Strategy Room of FoxNews.com. Videos and other content originating from the U.S., Central America and South America will be included on the site.  According to Pew Research, Latinos comprise 15.4 percent of the U.S. population.

"TUOL" doubts that Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity will blog on the site, but wonders if Murdoch, who erected a paywall around The Wall St. Journal's online presence, will opt for an electrified pay fence to limit access to FoxNewsLatino.com.

Cramer Backs Beck: Sponsors Will Return

Expect this item to reduce embattled Fox TV personality Glenn Beck to tears--CNBC Mad Money host Jim Cramer thinks Beck is a "nice guy" and predicts that the mass exodus of advertisers who considered Beck radioactive after he called President Obama a racist (see "TUOL" post 8/24/09) will end and the sponsors will return to the fold.

Of course, Cramer, a 54-year-old former hedge fund manager and co-founder of TheStreet.com, also predicted that global investment banker Bear Stearns (R.I.P.) would weather the economic downturn ("Don't move your money from Bear"). In March, Cramer was eviscerated by Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who blamed Cramer for doling out ersatz financial advice to viewers and missing the boat on the malfeasance being committed by Wall St. denizens. Cramer made his "nice guy" assessment of Beck, recalling how he was a listener, and once appeared on the 45-year-old Beck's talk radio show in Philadelphia.

Beck and Cramer in the same cramped radio studio is hard to envision. Beck and Cramer and 12 others of their ilk shoulder-to-shoulder in a Volkswagen Beetle in the center ring at Ringling Bros.--that's easier to imagine.

Defecting Advertisers Give Glenn Beck Something to Cry About

BeckImage by fsgm via Flickr

Fox Tv talkmeister Glenn Beck, who on a July 28 Fox telecast branded President Barack Obama a racist with a "deep-seated hatred for White people," has purportedly been abandoned by 33 sponsors, who asked Fox that their ads not appear on his program.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Beck's program attracts an average audience of 2.4 million. Sprint, CVS Caremark, Walmart and Clorox Co. are among the companies that distanced themselves from Beck's program. Clorox, maker of bleach and household cleaners, contends it has abandoned advertising on political talk shows of all stripes, a blow to Beck, whose viewers are "whiter than white."
