Associated Newspapers, publisher of  The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, two of the United Kingdom's largest newspapers, has coughed up 5,000 pounds ($7,978.40) to Madonna and apologized for publishing 10 purloined wedding photos from her marriage in December 2000,  to director Guy Ritchie, which ended in divorce in November 2008.

Madonna sued the media conglomerate for 5 million pounds ($7,978,400), alleging copyright infringement and invasion of privacy after the Mail on Sunday published 10 of 27 photos that had been pinched from the singer's wedding album in 2003 and copied by an interior designer doing work at her Beverly Hills home. The photos of the wedding at Skibo Castle in Scotland appeared in the newspaper last October, days after the 51-year-old entertainer announced her break-up from Ritchie.

Although $7,978.40 would buy a pretty snazzy bustier, Madonna plans to donate the settlement sum to her Raising Malawi charity.  Madonna, fresh off her "Sticky & Sweet" music tour, also received an apology from the attorney for Associated Newspapers.

  1. Why is Madonna smelling her armpit in the picture? Is it "Sticky and Sweet?"
