CBS's Early Show, the perennial also-ran to NBC's Today Show and ABC's Good Morning America, has completed its worldwide search for an executive producer to replace Zev Shalev, who is stepping down after solidifying the program's third-place standing.

His replacement, according to the NY Observer, is David Friedman, who served as executive producer of  Last Call with Carson Daly.  He is the son of Paul Friedman, executive vice president of CBS News.

Thanks, Dad.
